2 officers shot in Texas while answering suicide call

Associated Press FORT WORTH, Texas — Two police officers have been shot and wounded while answering a reported suicide at a house in Fort Worth, Texas. The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. Friday …

On Monday, November 4th, 2013, police in Iowa shot dead an unarmed teenager after a family dispute, and his relatives are now demanding answers.

According to The Associated Press, Tyler Comstock, 19, of Boone, was fatally shot the morning of Nov. 4 after a car chase with police ended on Iowa State University’s central campus in Ames.

Explaining how the teen found himself in a face-off with police, Comstock’s family says that the events of that fateful morning had been triggered by an argument between the young man and his father.

“He just wanted a pack of cigarettes, and his dad wouldn’t buy him a pack of cigarettes and he freaked out,” the teen’s mother, Shari Comstock, told the Iowa State Daily.

After the feud, Comstock reportedly got into his father’s car and took off.

That’s when his dad, James Comstock, decided to call the police to report his vehicle stolen.

“He took off with my truck. I call the police, and they kill him,” James Comstock told the Des Moines Register. It is believed that the truck belonged to the lawn care company for which the father and son both worked.

After James Comstock’s call, police were soon on the teenager’s tail. Comstock, however, reportedly refused to stop his vehicle and rammed into an officer’s car. Police then pursued him to Iowa State University’s campus in Ames.

Eventually surrounded by cops, Comstock finally came to a stop on the school’s Central Campus, but the young man reportedly ignored orders to turn his engine off.

It was then that a police officer named Adam McPherson is said to have fired six shots into the truck. The teen, believed to have been unarmed, died from two gunshot wounds, per the AP.

Comstock’s family is flabbergasted as to how a minor family dispute turned into an unspeakable tragedy.

“So he didn’t shut the damn truck off, so let’s fire six rounds at him? We’re confused, and we don’t understand,” Comstock’s step-grandfather, Gary Shepley, told the Register.

According to dispatch audio obtained by the news outlet, an unidentified police staffer suggested on two different occasions during the chase that officers back off their pursuit of Comstock. (Listen to the dispatch at the Des Moines Register.)

“I don’t understand [why this happened] when I blatantly heard them say, ‘Hey, we know who this is. It’s a kid, back off.’ I don’t get it,” Comstock’s mom told the Iowa State Daily after listening to the audio tape of the dispatch.

Police say Comstock may have put lives in danger when he drove through the university and that student pedestrians had to dodge his truck “to avoid being run over,” per the AP.

However, his mother questioned the officers’ actions and how they may have affected the situation.

“Why the hell would they chase him into campus with all the people?” she told the State Daily. “Tyler would never hurt anybody, ever. He was just a scared child. He’s pretty rational when he calms down.”

There may be a ticking time-bomb for the Hillary Clinton campaign: corruption being exposed in the FBI’s investigation of her emails. Fox News reported that the feds think they might have something and are bolstering their investigation. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

“The FBI is widening its investigation of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email account while she was U.S. secretary of state to determine whether any public corruption laws were violated, Fox News reported on Monday.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been looking into whether classified material was mishandled during Clinton’s tenure at the State Department from 2009-2013.

It will expand its probe by examining possible overlap of the Clinton Foundation charity with State Department business, Fox reported, citing three unidentified intelligence officials.

“The (FBI) agents are investigating the possible intersection of Clinton Foundation donations, the dispensation of State Department contracts and whether regular processes were followed,” Fox quoted one of its unidentified sources as saying.

The FBI and the State Department had no immediate comment on the report.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus issued a statement calling the Fox News report “a very troubling development.””*

Experts Slam DNC Cybersecurity Board For Lack Of Cyber Experts.

There’s one problem with Democratic National Committee’s new plan to keep it safe from future hacks. None of the four members of its newly created Cybersecurity Advisory Board is considered an expert in cybersecurity. “The Surgeon General is always a doctor, for good reason. But for some reason, a lawyer is good enough when it comes to cyber,” Christopher Soghoian, the principal technologist at the ACLU, told Vocativ. “They have overlooked the need to have somebody with hands-on experience who understands the reality of defending a network,” said Jeffrey Carr, the founder and president of cybersecurity firm Taia Global. “Everybody that they have is a very senior person, and generally the higher up you go, the less actual experience you have with attacks against networks and the reality of the threat landscape.” The four members of the board, according to a memo from interim DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile obtained by Politico, are Aneesh Copra, the inaugural U.S. Chief Technology Officer; Michael Sussman, a former Justice Department prosecutor who specialized in online crimes; former Department of Homeland Security official Rand Beers; and Nicole Wong, a lawyer who also served as both deputy U.S. CTO and legal counsel for Google and Twitter. “This just really smacks of a lack of imagination and really suggests that what they did is they went through their rolodex, ” Soghoian said. “‘Who’s worked in the Obama administration at a high level that did something tech related?’ What it suggests, I think, is they don’t see the difference between tech and security, and they also don’t see the difference between a lawyer who has been appointed to a tech position and a tech person.” The DNC is still dealing with the fallout of it being severely hacked by two foreign actors, cited by Crowdstrike, the cybersecurity firm Democrats hired to deal with the problem, as competing Russian government intelligence groups. Major political parties around the world are enticing targets for government intelligence agencies, and neither the DNC, nor their Republican counterparts, would be any different. Federal investigators reportedly previously warned the DNC that foreign actors would likely hack them for intelligence purposes. The hack proceeded to thoroughly embarrass the DNC. After it was announced, an online character calling himself Guccifer 2.0 posted DNC documents to a WordPress blog and announced plans to give its full cache to WikiLeaks, which published such a cache in July. Among the documents were emails in which some high-ranking DNC officials clearly preferred nominee Hillary Clinton to her rival Bernie Sanders, an independent Vermont Senator who announced his intention run as a Democrat in November 2015, a revelation that caused some Sanders supporters to accuse the DNC of being biased against their candidate.
